Commercial Litigation

Kimball Haines Hunt is a founder of Hunt Leibert and is the managing attorney for the Commercial Litigation practice.

Attorney Hunt directs this practice group in cases that commonly highlight an intricate plexus of fraudulent interactions among loan brokers, real estate appraisers, attorneys and sham purchasers – who, singly or in combination, variously employ side letter agreements, collapsible notes, check voiding, and 'bonus' payments to entice lender involvement.

Attorney Hunt has over 30 years of litigation experience in nearly every major field of criminal and civil law. Attorney Hunt, as a criminal defense lawyer, has obtained acquittals after verdicts involving charges of murder, felony murder, assault, burglary, racketeering, conspiracy, drug sales, and sexual assault. Attorney Hunt, as plaintiff's counsel, has successfully prosecuted and obtained a half dozen verdicts and settlements for a million dollars or more involving medical malpractice, insurance misrepresentation, defective mechanics, and reckless intoxication.

Attorney Hunt has filed and argued nearly two dozen appellate cases in the Supreme and Appellate Courts of Connecticut. He has conducted seminars addressing Discovery Procedures; Trial of the Soft Tissue Injury Case; and Trying the Wrongful Death Case in Connecticut .

Community Activity
Mr. Hunt has served local area high schools as a coach and mentor to students that have expressed an interest in pursuing careers in the legal profession.  Mr Hunt's high school “student lawyers” have been awarded the Connecticut State Championship in Mock Trial competition and qualified for the final quarter round on five separate occasions of the eight years he has acted as coach.

Education
Mr. Hunt received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of New Hampshire in 1971 and received his J.D. from North Carolina University School of Law in 1974.
