Richard M. Leibert is a founder of Hunt Leibert and
serves as the firm's managing attorney and is responsible for the
Foreclosure and Bankruptcy Practice Groups. He focuses his practice on
foreclosure, bankruptcy and loss mitigation.
Education
Attorney Leibert received his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Long Island University in 1973 and his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1979.
Publications
Mr. Leibert is a recognized scholar within the mortgage servicing
industry, published numerous articles on issues affecting lenders and
servicers in a multitude of publications one of which is Cutting Down Unnecessary Litigation published in the September and October, 2000 issue of Servicing Management.
Memberships
Attorney Leibert's activities include Freddie Mac Default Advisory
Group (DAG), the Alltel Attorney Advisory Group, American Bankruptcy
Institute and is a Member of the National Association of Chapter 13
Trustees. Attorney Leibert serves as Vice President & CEO for the
USFN, America's Mortgage Banking Attorneys. The USFN is a network of
foreclosure attorneys whose primary purpose is to serve and educate the
mortgage banking industry.
Civic Achievements
Mr. Leibert has been a special public attorney for neglected children
in the Connecticut Juvenile Court System. He serves as a member on the
Board of Directors of the Greater Hartford Jewish Federation and is a
Trustee of the Hebrew Home and Hospital. He is a past recipient of the
Connecticut Bar Association’s Pro Bono Award.
